Bridge: A MindSport for All (BAMSA) is a research collaboration led by the University of Stirling.

‘Why should we do research on bridge?’

BAMSA researchers discuss the findings in relation to the skills and benefits gained through playing the mindsport bridge – a game that brings people together.

BAMSA was launched in 2019, its mission to use academic findings to transform the image of bridge, increase participation and help the mindsport thrive.

Several BAMSA research projects are underway and others are scheduled to start in the next few years. Each project is designed to provide data on a different sociological aspect of the mindsport of bridge.

Various organisations have funded particular projects. General project funding has also been provided from BAMSA’s own fundraising activities.

What is the Sociology of Bridge?

Samantha Punch, project lead for Bridge: A MindSport for All, talks about why bridge is of interest to academics and outlines how the game bridges the generations.
